The Horrors of War and Terrorism
I have been away for a very long time, my great and deep apologies to all who read my blog, and to those who have e-mailed me. I have done a great dishonor by not keeping up with e-mails. In my culture, it is looked at very badly if one does not return the warmth that one is given by a stranger, friend, or any other human being. Please do forgive me.
In my time away, Iraq has seen daily bombings on the scale of what happened in London two weeks ago. I am very sad to see what happened in London, but for me, it is nothing new, those of us in Iraq have become used to tens of people dying on a daily basis, it is sickening, as I think we have become used to it, almost as if we are losing our humanity in the midst of so much death, pain and agony. The bombings in London are important though beacause they show that my religion is being molested by evil forces who use religion for their own agenda. The same fanatical mindset that causes so called "mujahideen", which means holy warriors, but which are in reality nothing of the sort, to blow up Iraqi children, this mindset has clearly spread to the rest of the world, even in the Unitd Kingdom.
I was distressed to learn that the bombers in the UK were born there, but I am no longer surprised. The tentacles of bin Laden and his brothers are very long, and the entire world must do what it takes to not only cut them off, but to destroy the center of the growth. It is like a tumor, one branch is cut off, yet others keep growing. Despite all the sucesses of the US in killing and catching terrorists, terrorism continues, and it has only gotten worse and worse here in Iraq. We never had public death on this scale in the days of Saddam. Strange that there can be some good comparison to his regime.
But don't think I am sympathizing with him, no, he should be killed tommorow. His trial is only going to foster more attacks on Iraqis, and one way to show his demons that Iraqis will not fall to them is to nip their inspiration at the root, and kill Saddam. Sure, attacks will go on, but we will have sent an important message to his sympathisers, and to those who think that terrorism can work. It cannot. People only get sick of violence, and they themselves react in order to bring peace to their community. Every man on earth is looking for a peaceful place to live, and this cancer is depriving us of it.
Either men do something, or we get used to it. I have hope that Iraqis will do something, and there are always good signs demonstrating this, but I also see the sickness of getting sick falling over my people, even over myself. None of you, my dear readers, have seen the horrors of what war and terrorism bring. I have seen it all. The first time was in the opening days of the American invasion when I saw victims of errant American bombs, they were no longer people, they were nothing more than clumps of human muscle, fat, and so on. Faces no longer existed, it is for this reason that such things are even more heart-breaking for the family.
Imagine your loved one dying, and you having to see them in their end, no longer looking like the beautiful human that they once were.
Do you know what a person looks like who has been subject to war? I hope not, it is disgusting. The worst image that is burnt into my memory is that of a young man, I believe he was a victim of a road-side bomb, and his head was there, but his face was no more. It looked like his head had vomited out his insides. God help the dead, and God help us cure the insanity that is gripping our nation and the world.

Although I am not there and don't see the horror up close, every day that people are killed in Iraq fills me with despair. The wanton killing of children is the worst. I can only pray to God to help us.
Please continue to post Husayn! There are many of us who care about what is happening, and want you to be safe and we worry about you when you are gone for long. I can feel some despair within you- but you have to remember that in EVERY war there are deaths, and casualties, and tragedies. From our Revolution to our Civil War where literally brother fought brother, to the World Wars. Now we are in another war, but to make the sacrifices of all the good Iraqis worth it we must now WIN this war. Do not give up hope, a new day is coming. Do not grant the terrorists their objective! The only thing that can stop us is despair and giving up, thus letting the murderers win. No I say!! We must fight harder, kill more of THEM, and fight until final victory is reached. Be of strong and brave heart, there are many counting on you to show the way. Leadership means stepping forward and carrying the banner of freedom- even in its darkest moments!!
GET OUT THE VOTE and Bush Authorized Covert Plan to Manipulate Iraqi Elections.
Husayn, it is so good to see you back and blogging, even if your mood is dark. I read your blog regularly, and I had fears that you might have become one of those faceless ones you describe. The Lt is right. In the absence of hope, there is only despair. Do not allow those who bring despair to win. TOGETHER, we can defeat these forces of darkness, and bring a safe, secure and prosperous Iraq to the fore.
Keep blogging, stay safe, and spread your message to the world.
God hold the innocent dead in his arms.
Husayn,
I'm glad you posted again. I was getting concerned for your safety.
We're listening to your thoughts whether were happy or sad.
Stay safe you and your family.
Glad you're still alive. When an Iraqi blogger goes silent for a long time, one tends to imagine the worst...
Husayn,
I have just found your blog and was so pleased to find you. I pray for you and your countrymen that you will one day find the peace that you so richly deserve! I will be visiting frequently.
You will have the freedom and democracy! And you will have it because of people like you who want it and know that you will never again let someone like Saddam take over your lives again.
God - or Allah - bless you. Stay with the good fight because it is worth it.
Husayn,
Take heart. There is a world of people you may never meet who are inspired by your blog and share your sadness. You are not alone, I wish I could travel and meet you face to face to give you encouragement. God Bless you and know that I will be praying for you. Dianne / California / Wife/Mother and your new Friend.
Glad to see you back Husayn, and may God be with you, your family and all the Iraqis and keep you safe.
Hi Husayn -
I'm glad to see you blogging again, I was worried about you.
I'm sorry things are so bad right now. I wish I could make things better for you, your family, and your country.
Take care and keep safe.
You wrote:
"I lost internet connection due to funds, I was arrested for a few weeks, and then Baghdad was attacked by insurgent attacks. I am however, by the grace of God, alive, I can say that and many others cannot."
I do not think you need to apologize for not posting very often. Your reasons are much better than they are for most people. Your courage is an inspiration. Don't lose heart.
Husayn,
Sorry times have been rough for you. Hopefully, things will improve and you and the rest of the Iraqis will find peace and stability.
If you look at Northern Iraq, Kurdistan went through many years of Civil War, before things settled down and now it's the fastest growing /most stable part of Iraq.
So, don't give up hope.
Hi Husayn,
Thanks for posting again. I think it's good to get your feelings out by writing them down here.
I'm very glad I have not had to see a loved one die in an explosion with unrecognizable body parts here and there...
I'm sorry you have seen this and that it is now a forever memory in your mind.
I have seen soldiers come back home to the states that have seen what you have described... Yes they are different, changed and haunted. Some don't pull thru the terror in their minds which they can't escape, others with love of family & friends get thru it, though they never forget, they do learn to go on, and be happy productive people.
I think "Love" is what makes the difference... You can "Love" a person back to sanity/normalacy
Never give up, keep giving and recieving "Love" no matter what.
Love,
Pebble
(Hey I didn't spell check this, so Brian H if you're reading this, I don't need to be corrected, but thanks anyway...lol)
It is always frightening when a blogger in a high intensity area goes awol, but you are well and this is good. My heart as an Algerian/Lebanese goes out to you and all the Iraqis suffering now and may God bless you. Salaam. Nouri.
I wonder how much the media affects your perception of the war. And if in America we had similar conflict which is going on in Iraq, would our media coverage actually be as "free and open" as it is in Iraq?
I live in Los Angeles, and there are on average 2 murders a day as matter of statistics. I don't hear about them, they aren't covered in their gory details. On America roads there are about 40,000 deaths per year- lot's of potential death and suffering to had here. All this death and mayham will probably be reported in the news somewhere- local TV and/or local papers but it's rarely "covered" as a story.
For example, a few year back the news was extensively covering gang related violence- "driveby shooting". There was much news hype about this [and I think all the news hype actually caused more of these "driveby shooting" to occur]. Today, a driveby shooting might be mentioned in the news, but I don't recall seeing any "indepth coverage" of this topic in recent years.
The media likes to tell it's readers or viewers that it's keeping them informed, but the actuality is that media is mostly providing entertainment. With the "driveby shooting", I am sure that there was actions taken by police and community leaders to curb this kind of violence. But I also think that viewers grew less interested in this story and the editors and reporter saw that people weren't as interested in this story as they were, so stopped covering it as the lead story with background and reason for it and etc, etc.
Husayn,
I am glad to find you well, but am sorry to hear you are going through some very hard times. God be with you and give you strength.
Husayn
Thank you for your comments and letting us know how your life is. You are an inspiration to me. Allayhalik.
Glad to see you writing again Husayn.
About things being better under Saddam's rule as far as daily violence goes, well, I don't know if this means anything to you, but this is my point of view: Under Saddam, there was brutal opression and no sense of freedom whatsoever. When people get their first taste of freedom and free speech, they either like it, as you do, or they get scared. I think Iraqis need to get used to this freedom, I think that this will eventually stop Iraqis themselves from becoming terrorists. But this doesn't take care of the terrorists coming in from Saudi Arabia, Syria and all those places, though.
Now, enough of this sadness and all that depressing stuff! I got a little suggestion if you don't mind. I've been curious to know what happens to you in the course of a day. Just a regular day for Husayn Uthman in Iraq. Well, that's really all.
That's really all... try to keep your chin up. You know what their goal is with all of these horrible things and you know they're not gonna suceed.
I discovered your blog about a month ago, and even included some of your contents in my blog, which I recently started.
Anything you have to say is definitely worthy of a listen to. Your perspective is one I rarely get to hear, simply from listening to mainstream news sources.
I live in Santa Monica, CA, by the way...effectively Los Angeles.
I'm afraid most of the people posting here are not terribly interested in Iraq or the well-being of the people or whether they are free or emprisoned or being tortured or even dead. They just want to feel good about themselves.
Bless you for providing that service. Poor creatures are experiencing increasing difficulties in confirmation of the propaganda.
Oebemans.
Rarely do I hear from an Iraqi with positive views about this war. Anyway, just curious, why were you arested?
What 1.15am is saying is true, to USans you are a 'raghead' and the majority of them will never see or treat you as an equal. Supporting them in the destruction and pillage of Iraq will never result in a positive outcome as they don't care about Iraq. Show me one US leader who has said a positive thing about Iraqi culture or history. Also, carry out a 'before and after' exercise on countries worldwide who have seen US military intervention in the past 60 years.
If you really do live in Iraq you probably know the truth about the Americans and what is really happening to your people. Remember that it is never too late for you to support the people who seek a free Iraq.
Many Americans are starting to see the truth about their country.. They are waking from a deep sleep and slowly realising that the real world is a nightmare where you are a hollow shell 'free' to work and consume. For those of you who understand the above it is your duty to act on your instincts. A good first step is to turn off your television.
First we must distinguish between
the horror of the initial invasion.
And the horror that the Iraqi people have faced now for say
18 months.
Anyone who has any objectivity at all can see the shift in the targets of the "insurgents"
The majority of the violence
is now being directed at anything
that represents or supports the new government ... in the majority
of incidents since january 30th
Americans are simply NOT involved.
The killing is directed toward
the NEW Iraq and innocents.
The people behind the killing now
are those who detest a new Iraq
with the sharing of wealth and authority amongst the Iraqi people, They are Saddam Loyalists
and Zarqawis network.
With regard to US military intervention Hmm lets
right now compare say
South Korea to Say North Korea
Who out there if they were
FORCED to choose would live
in North Korea over South Korea ???
And lets not pretend everything
is wonderful in Vietnam now either.
Because Vietnam is not in the news
anymore does not mean life is wonderful there.
There are Vietnamese who have spoken of the silent horror in their country under the present government.
Husayn ... the peolple of Iraq
are now fighting Saddam ... he had many months to plan this strategy
of how to fight back if US invaded.
Yes there was no horrible public violence which you see now during
his years
but thats because those who would oppose Saddam did not have access
to weapons and explosives.
Saddams men set up and stockpiled
weapons and exposives all over Iraq for this purpose ... to
continue to bring ruin to the Iraqi people.
We all hope these people will
give up and become part of the new Iraq soon.
Remember .... FREEDOM IS NOT FREE . You are not the first to see the ugliness of war and you will not be the last . Please take care and understand that the USA has been through this too and stands beside you .
Husayn, thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings with us. I am sorry for the innocent victims of the war against Saddam. Know that every freedom-loving person shares your pain.
One day, terrorism will be defeated the people of Iraq will no longer have to worry about roadside bombs.
Keep posting.
Thank God most people have not been through what the Kurdish and shia people have gone through. Two different parts of my family have gone through genocide and i can truthfully say it takes generations for the survivors to get back to something that passes for normal. The children of survivors are different due to how there parents raised them. Group experiences mean something.
Husayn,
Thank you for your courage. I will be praying for you and your family.
Remember the brighter days that are to come. There is always hope, my friend.
Report on The Future of Iraq event at the American Enterprise Institute last week:
"We call it insurgency, Iraqis call it terrorism. I would argue that the more we tolerate, the more reconciliation without truth -------, the more violence has occurred."
"...What is the purpose of the Iraq War?" I asked.
"To establish Iraq as a republican democracy", Mr. Kagan replied.
"Then what of the Global War on Terror?"
"On balance, I think establishing democracy in Iraq is more important."

For Immediate Release

********************************
CFL ALERT: TELL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES TO SPEAK OUT AGAINST THE
TREATMENT AND ILLEGAL DETENTION OF CHILD PRISONERS IN PALESTINE AND
IRAQ.
TALKING POINTS:
*Please take a moment to write to your representatives and ask them to
speak out against the illegal detention of children in Iraq and
Palestine. Reports on the abuse at Abu Ghraib indicate that the
Pentagon has proof (photographs and video) that detained Iraqi
children are being sodomized and raped by American soldiers. In
Israel, Palestinian children are also being held indiscriminately and
illegally in violation of international law and human rights law.
Reports by Israeli human rights organizations indicate that like Iraqi
children, Palestinian child detainees are regularly tortured and not
allowed visits by either the Red Cross or their parents.
* In a report written last year called, 'Stolen Youth: The Politics of
Israel's Detention of Palestinian Children' the authors interviewed a
teenager who gave the following description of his treatment by the
Israeli military: "Three more people in masks came into the room.
They blindfolded me, put a hood over my head... they kicked and
slapped me. They beat me with a plastic pipe and whatever they could
get their hands on. I couldn't see anything because I was blindfolded.
I just felt the blows. That lasted ten to fifteen minutes... Later
they stood me on a chair and told me to grab a pipe that was fixed to
the wall. They removed the chair from under me and left me hanging in
the air, with my handcuffed hands holding onto the pipe and the weight
of my body, hanging in the air, drawing my hands downwards. They left
the room." - Ismail Sabatin, 17 years old. Palestinian children being
held by the Israeli military range between the ages of 9-17 years old,
many of these children are being held without charges, others have
been held for months for merely throwing stones at Israeli tanks.
Tell your representatives that because we give $12 billion dollars in
American welfare to Israel a year that we have a moral obligation to
demand that the Israelis end this despicable treatment of Palestinian
children.
*Treatment of Iraqi children under the U.S. occupation forces is no
better. Last week the Pentagon blocked the release of pictures of
Iraqi children being raped and sodomized by American soldiers as
publication of those pictures would have been a public relations
disaster of the U.S. In an expose done by the Sunday Herald late last
year a child witness of the abuse at Abu Ghraib gave a statement to
investigators saying that he witnessed the rape of a boy who was 15
years old: "The kid was hurting very bad and they covered all the
doors with sheets. Then, when I heard the screaming I climbed the
door … and I saw [the soldier's name is deleted] who was wearing a
military uniform." The witness then described in graphic details how
he witnessed that soldier rape "the little kid".
*The abuse of children by the United States and by the U.S.'s
staunchest ally in the Middle East is unacceptable; it's time that we
held our government accountable for the blatant violations of human
rights occurring in Iraq and Palestine. Tell your representatives
that you feel that the illegal detention of Palestinian and Iraqi
children is deplorable and that as your elected officials you expect
them to speak out against the cruel treatment of children. Remind
your elected officials that none of these actions in Iraq or Palestine
could occur without the tacit approval of the U.S. government.

LOOK! if the man is depressed and moody, let them be! None of us knows what he's seen during this civil war and makes me mad when people over here pretends they can really say something useful to anybody like him. Some people mentions our Revolution and our civil war. That's adsurd! That's ancient history to us and they talk as if had been there or something. Is silly.
damn good blog, check out mine http://juicyfruiter.blogspot.com, comments always welcome!
Husayn, keep believing in hope and know that the MAJORITY of Americans and the rest of the world wishes only success in Iraq.
It is NOT like Vietnam like the media tends to think it is over there. The populace in Iraq are working WITH the coalition, not against it like it was in Vietnam. Though it may get worse before it gets better (after the storm there is sunshine), please try and look forward to the day when you can freely walk down the beautiful streets of Baghdad without fear of war.
I truly do not know what it is like over there for you and your fellow Iraqis, but I do send money each week to help the war effort against the terrorists; its the least I can do to help. Please stay strong and maybe one day we will meet in Iraq as friends.
Sincerely,
Brian Eckes (32, male, North Carolina, USA)
Husayn,
I have admired your courage and felt your despair. I don't know if your country is better off now or under Saddam but even if it doesn't work out for you I want you to understand what democracy is. Many people have made comments that the people who have criticised the war and think President Bush is wrong are not patriots and hate America and Iraq. Let me explain to you first of all those people don't know what democracy is! True democracy and true freeedom is being able to disagree with your government when you think it is wrong and being able to say so! I am sure that under Saddam no one was able to say anything that was counter to what he told you. That is dictatorship. A true patriot is a person who loves his country enough to stand up and speak out when he thinks it is wrong!! Only a coward or a fool or a mindless simpleton supports a government or regime or President without question! That is the true test of democracy. When you are allowed to question the government and not be called a traitor for doing so! You don't strike me as being any of the above so for your sake and the sake of the Iraqi people I hope and pray that you learn that lesson and are able to live it!
Husayn
Thank you for sharing your feelings. Some Americans may not care about the individual Iraqis but it is not the majority of us. I pray for the Iraqi people who
have and are suffering from the terrorists and hope that Iraq will be able to overcome and gain peace and prosperity. Our cultures are different but we are all part of the human family. The blogs are a great way to understand each other. Keep posting and realize there are many who wish only the best for you and your nation.
Husayn,
Good to see that you are back and able to share your perspective.
The tide is turning from what I can see, where your new Iraq Army is taking hold! We all want to see a strong and free Iraq so that we are able to visit each others homes at will.

We may not have seen the terror of war, but our ancestors certainly did when they fought for their freedom years ago, and every free country's ancestors saw death for their freedom and now our's, thank the dear Lord for them. If Iraqis were happier under Saddam, then they should have an election and vote on whether Saddam should come back or not. If Iraqis would rather have Saddam than their freedom, then that should be what they get. It isn't as far-fetched as you think. I saw a show on FOX news last night where many professionals stated this fact. So, be careful what you wish for because it may just come true.

Hi,
I'm sorry for being intrusive in to your blog. But I am Melissa and I am a mother of two that is just trying to get out of an incredible financial debt. See my hubby is away in Iraq trying to protect this great country that we live in, and I am at home with our two kids telling bill collectors please be patiant. When my husband returns from war we will beable to catch up on our payments. We have already had are 2001 Ford repossessed from the bank, and are now down to a 83 buick that is rusted from front to back and the heater don't work, and tire tax is due in November.
I'm not asking for your pitty because we got our ownselfs into this mess but we would love you and thank you in our prayers if you would just keep this link on your blog for others to view.
God Bless You.

Your great blog refers to start home business which I found very interesting. Most home businesses seem to fail within their first year which is not surprising as many start home business schemes are simply unworkable or offer too high expectations. Your perspective on the matter is very thought provoking - well done.

No honest really, he was right there in front of me, next to the steaks singing "Love me Tender".
He said to me (his lip was only slightly curled) "Boy, you need to get yourself a shiny, new plasmatv to go with that blue suede sofa of yours.
But Elvis said I, In the Ghetto nobody has a plasma tv .
Dude I'm All Shook Up said Elvis. I think I'll have me another cheeseburger then I'm gonna go home and ask Michael Jackson to come round and watch that waaaay cool surfing scene in Apocalypse Now on my new plasma tv .

Hi,
I want to tell you something about making money.
Today I decided that enough is enough. I wanted to get past the scams. Not only for myself, but for anyone who is like me.
Can you make money on the Internet....... Yes, but it won't be easy.
If I say make money I mean enough money to live a comfortable life, I don't mean millions. It is true that people make millions on the internet but do you think after reading one eBook you can too? I'm sorry but that is not going to happen.
If you think my site will show you how to make a million in one month, sorry I can't help you there. If you think ANY web site can show you how to make a million in one month, believe me it's better to take your money to a casino. You WILL have better luck there.
I will tell you what my site is about. My site is about making money together.
I it is easier to make money with a group of people than to do it on your own.
Why? Because you can't know everything. Imagine a group of 100 people with knowledge of the Internet helping you to make money on Internet! Don't you think you have a better chance of making money? If you decide not too join, you will miss out on the best opportunity you had for a long time and for a long time to come.
If you are interested please visit:

Let me know what you think about this idea.
Regards,
Michel
PS I hope you don't mind me posting a comment on your Blog.
