User-agent: Mediapartners-Google* Disallow: Democracy in Iraq (is here!): 2 Years

2 Years

It has been now two years since the United States, UK and other countries invaded our nation. It has been two years since Iraqis have had to live with daily violent attacks and rampant terrorism. It has been two years since our nation began being turned upside down. It has been two years since the road to democracy began.

It has been a very hard two years. So many people have died, so much has been destroyed, so many drops of tears and blood have been shed, so many have been robbed of loved ones, and so many words have been spoken about Iraq, it's future, and this war.

Two years...seems like yesterday that I was awoken by bombs going off in Baghdad, and the realisation that my life and that of my country was going to change. That very day I remember being scared that my house might be destroyed by a bomb, or that my relatives who were forcibly put into the Iraqi army might be killed.

Two years since Saddam came on TV, and pledged that Iraq would never fall. Little did he know, he surrendered like a rat in a whole only months later. Two years since my father had a heart.

Two years is about 730 days. In those days what have I seen. My eyes have seen more than I had ever hoped, more blood, more death and more pain, then I ever imagined or hoped I would have seen.

In those days I have seen the worst of humanity, the animal that lives in all humanity, the ability of humanity to destroy at will others, and rob the life given to others by God almight himself.

So you ask me, Husayn, was it worth it. What have you gotten? What has Iraq acheived? These are questions I get a lot.

To may outsiders, like those who protested last year, who will protest today. This was a fools errand, it brought nothing but death and destruction. I am sheltered in Iraq, but I know how the world feels, how people have come to either love or hate Bush, as though heis the emobdiement of this war. As though this war is part of Bush, they forget the over twenty million Iraqis, they forget the Middle Easterners, they forget the average person on the street, the average man with the average dream.

Ask him if it was worth it. Ask him what is different. Ask him if he would go through it again, go ahead ask him, ask me, many of you have.

Now I answer you, I answer you on behalf of myself, and my countrymen. I dont care what your news tells you, what your television and newspapers say, this is how we feel. Despite all that has happened. Despite all the hurt, the pain, blood, sweat and tears. These two years have given us hope we never had.

Before March 20, 2003, we were in a dungeon. We did not see the light. Saddam Hussain was crushing Iraq's spirit slowly, we longed for his end, but knew we could not challenge him, or his diabolical seed who would no doubt follow him and continue his generation of hell on Earth.

Since then, we now have hope. Hope is not a tangible thing, but it is something, it is more than being blinded by darkness, by being stuck in a mental pit without any future.

Hope has been the greatest product of the last two years. No doubt, many have died, many have died by accident or due to crimes. But their sacrifices are not, and will not be for nothing. I refuse to let it be, and my countrymen stand with me.

Our cities are smoking, our graveyards full, and terrorists in our midst. But we are not defeated. We are not down, we are not regretful. We are not going to surrender. For all that the two years have brought, the greatest thign they have given us is a future, and a view of the finish line.

Iraqis see the finish line, the finish line of freedom and democracy and a functioning nation. We can smell it, taste it, and like a sprinter, one who has broken his legs, but who has a heart full of passion, we will crawl there no matter what the cost. No matter what we must endure, we have realized what we can become, and that is the biggest result of the last two years.

Noone can take that from us. Not the terrorists, not those who want to question the good of the removal of Saddam, not those who want to reduce our glory for politics, none.

We have been brought from darkness to light. And not only has the future been made better for Iraq, but the martyrs of our nation, their blood is watering the roots of democracy across the world. We are watching our neighbors come closer to the light, and this only pushes us more, and makes us stronger in our burning desire to reach the finish line, to realize the dream that our people have had for so long.

No, we will not give up, and we will not say that the last two years were a waste. They for all their trouble have been momentus. They for us, have been a turning point in history. Whether or not you agree, this is how it looks from Iraq.

Azizi Husayn,
You have answered all the doubters and the ignorant and the selfish 'anti-war' protesters. Who are they to decide that MNF are wrong to be in Iraq, when the majority of Iraqis - 20million or more - want them to stay until the time is right for them to leave? They call themselves Democrats but they act anti-democratic; they call themselves liberals but they behave anti-liberation when it concerns the future of the Iraqi people. They are self-centred because they would rather see Sadsdam still in power, sucking the Iraqi people's blood, building his palaces, emptying the southern marshes, creating more expansionist wars, stashing away millions of Iraqi oil money in personal European bank accounts, and so on........yes, the 'anti-war' protesters are indeed very selfish, as they would not lift a finger to help the Iraqi people escape from Saddam, though ready to use some technicality of it being 'illegal' as their pathetic and feeble excuse to justify their stance against the decent majority of Iraqis who were grateful for the MNF intervention 2 years ago.

Long may your quest for democracy and freedom continue despite the terrorits and the ignorant defeatists.

Rest assured there are millions in the west who do not have to demonstrate to show their support of the decent Iraqis and the MNF liberation effort. We are with you 100%, brother. Long live Iraq.

I have the utmost respect for your enduring courage and positive outlook for your future. I am working in Iraq. I have been here for 1 year and 4 months now, and have seen the beauty and promise in this land that so many are blind to. It is people like you that will decide the future of your communities and truly chase out the disease that plagues your family and friends. I am proud to have been a part of history in your country, but I am only a small, insignificat part of something of which you and your neighbors are monumental in. I commend you and am inspired by you. I am an American who is proud to call the Iraqi people my brothers and sisters.

Thank you for telling us that all the pain and suffering have been worth it to gain freedom in Iraq. I know my American cousins will be grateful to hear that. The media is really downplaying any good news. Their bias is so strong against Bush they refuse to give an inch, unless the story is so overwhelming they can't help themselves. As for the birth of this freedom being bloody, all birth of good strong nations are.
Even Canada had to fight to get rid of the French and we're still trying to get rid of the English, but that's another story. If you've had to fight to get your freedom, it's because the other guy knows how valuable having control is and he is fighting to retain it. Once you've won your freedom and rid your country of the 'insurgents' and Iraq is autonomous and Iran and Syria (the countries trying to get control of Iraq) finally get the message, you will have won a great, great victory! Greater than any written since the anals of Mesopotamia and the region began. Truly a victory for the ages! How splendid that will be when the day comes. Soon!

I'm sure there are a few Iraqis who are supportive of the American conquest of Iraq, oh sorry "liberation". But please explain to me why there is still political violence in Iraq. It's all well and good to say that the insurgency is led by "bad guys" and "terrorists", but terrorism does not happen in a vacum. There are real greviances that still have to be addressed in Iraq, like the 50 percent unemployment rate, and Sunni political participation. Iraq is a failed state and all of these "conservatives" who were led like sheep into this war are now justifying their stance but balk at spending the money for reconstruction. Democracy in Iraq? How about jobs first.

Remember these things

-- democracy is a process, not a destination.

-- all democracies have moonbats, learn to ignore them.

Anyone who has experienced freedom knows what you talk about. The natural condition of the human spirit is to be free and excercise free will. The only bounds should be do no harm to others.

The biggest lie in recent history is the lie the tyrants tell that Arab people cannot handle democracy. A smart person knows the answer.

Hey, there's something in my eyes...again...

I really do not have the words to tell you how very very happy I am for Iraq. It's been horrific, but it's been sublime too. The Day of Purple Fingers was the most awe-inspiring thing I've ever seen, and it only grows in signifigance with each passing day.

In a better world the price would not be so high. But we are in the world we are in, and the freedom you seek is worth it at any price. Your children's children's children will bless your names and revere you for the price you pay today, to give them the security of an open and just society.

The Iraqis and the Afghanis have amazed the world with the simple courage of their honest hearts. Your determination and perseverence are an inspiration to anyone who has honesty in their soul. Lebanon sees what you've done, and they know it is their right to live freely, too. Soon the people of Iran and Syria will join you, and then the tyrants will know for certain that the bell tolls for them.

Thank you for speaking out. You bring hope to myself and many others who are hammered every day by a lying press who can only hope for failure of your dreams because their politics take precedence over your future. They try to tell us that the Iraqis and Afghanis wish America had not done what it did.

You help us all to know better. Thank you again. Be strong, be safe, and BE FREE!!

Thank you for your words, your courage and your strength. Your words will echo in the heart of everyone who wants to be free of oppression, both in Iraq and far beyond the borders of your country.

Those who have been free for a long time often take it for granted and think that obtaining that freedom was easy. They do not study history, and so do not realize the huge sacrifices that free people so often must endure to obtain that freedom. You are a reminder of those sacrifices.

But more important, for those who survive the fight, there is an exhilaration one feels when he or she is suddenly free. It is then that one knows that despite the costs, it was worth the struggle.

Again, thank you.

I for one do not buy this BS. A couple of reasons: First, don't give me this crap about the US needed to come in to liberate "20 million" people. Are you telling me that Saddam could have destroyed an organized attack from 20 million people? Why is it the US' responsibility to "liberate you"? I remind you, we DID NOT come there to liberate you. We came there to get rid of WMDs which, as we have found out, we were lied to about.

Second, where are all these big Iraqi freedom fighters. If they were against terrorism and they were willing to fight about it this terrorism would be over by now and US troops would come home. I am reminded what some insightful Vietnam Vets used to say about how they would walk past South Vietnamese kids who were NOT fighting yet the American had to be there to fight.

Finally, my friend, don't kid yourself. We ARE NOT THERE to bring you Democracy. The day you stop selling us oil or you raise the price we will either abandon you or squash you just like we did Saddam. The day you run out of oil is the day you will become like Africa. You know, thousands starve to death there every day and the US Government could care less.

If all of this is true, that you are so "greatful" then pressure your neighbors to lower the price of fuel. That is ALL WE CARE ABOUT.

Have a nice day.

First, I am not "anti-war" nor am I a liberal.

Now to make my points:

The word of "democracy" is a misnomer, especially in describing the U.S. The U.S. government is an elected Republic, not a democracy.

As messed up and in need of help as Iraq is, it is by no means the most despondent country on this planet. It is highly unlikely that without the incentive of oil the U.S. would ever have invaded Iraq (but who knows eh?).

As wonderful as I'm sure things are in Iraq right now, things are far from over, and not even the extreme-Bush supporters can argue with this. Not that we should shirk from challenges, but let's not count the chicks before they hatch.

The people in the world who have yet to gain their freedom will follow in your footsteps. Your people have become a beacon to many, especially in the Middle East.

May the God of your faith protect you as mine protects me.

You express what those of us in America who have supported the war throughout have always known: that anyone must cherish a fighting chance to escape tyranny, and that Iraqis would cherish their fighting chance as much as the patriots of our revolutionary war. The cost only raises the determination to succeed.

I would only add that hope is not really an intangible. The difference between having a future and not having a future, as you put it, may be the only thing that really IS tangible. Life without a future is the phantasm. Now opportunities are real, for individuals and the nation. Bravo Iraq!

The anti-war protestors don't care about the well being of anybody else except themselves. They don't care about the people who were torchered or murdered by Saddam Hussein. They don't care about the fact that Saddam, the UN, France, Germany, Russia, and China were profiting from the Oil-for-Food program. They don't care about the fact that President Bush didn't just go to war against Iraq for WMDs but the fact that Saddam had violated 17 UN resolutions.

I could not disagree more with Kevin.

Something about his background: he was recently discharged from the US Army basically because he had been "re-activated" to go to Iraq while his kid was very sick indeed (but hopefully is now on the mend). Something that should never have happened (and I hope would never happen in Australia).

His service in the US Army and Reserves has been long and honourable, and he's had to suffer more Bureacratic Chickenshit about his separation than anyone should be required to. He's also fanatically anti-Republican, and sees the Bush administration as a danger to his country.

As I said, I couldn't disagree with him more. But he's not the usual clueless Moonbat. His views may be coloured by his personal experiences, but I don't think they are. I do think that his mindset is Pre-9/11 though, with too much emphasis on Realpolitik and the Old World Order.

Things changed then, at least, from this Australian's viewpoint. In order to defend ourselves, we must eliminate dictatorships with nuclear ambitions, by peaceful means if possible, by force if neccessary. The best way to do that is to provide the preconditions for democracy to take root. Whether it does or not is up to the people concerned. The Iraqis on the "day of the purple finger" have justified our faith in them, and more besides. Congratulations - you guys are amazing.

It's something we should have done for moral reasons a long time ago. Now there are Practical reasons for it too.

Others here have already mentioned Hammurabi, someone I've been waxing poetic about since the war started two years ago.

As someone educated in anthropology, prehistoric civilizations, let me give you my take on the events of the past few years from someone with a LONG view of humanity.

The Messopotamian region has been a magnet for greatness from time immemorial. The world's earliest great civilizations sprung up there in the rich Tigress/Euphrates area, and drew the Great from lands all around. These people in their own times drove the area to greatness again and again and again. It is one of those places that could be said to be especially blessed by God.

The Code of Hammurabi is the oldest known example of a government listing the rights of the people, literally carved in stone. The Code exists to this very day, an example of enlightenment for the world to see.

In its time, Baghdad was the Jewel of the Ottoman Empire, attracting poets, artists, and scholars from all over the Known World.

Again and again, the area attracted the greatest of the great, who mixed with the local population, the people I think of as the Children of Hammurabi.

It was in your blood all along. When the war started two years back, I (figuratively) held my breath waiting to see the reaction of the Children of Hammurabi. But it was a long time coming.

Then I came to realize that Iraqis were shell-shocked, suddenly released from a brutal dictator, uncertain of what they were allowed to do or who to trust. It was a classic case of post-traumatic stress. The voices of the bloggers like yourself and the Brothers at Iraq the Model were a glimmer of the Children of Hammurabi, but it didn't appear to be taking hold in Iraq in general.

But then came the elections, and I understood that the Children of Hammurabi had been there all along, waiting for their chance to express their need for their rights. I wept with joy at the sight!

Your people are finally reclaiming your suppressed heritage, my Brother :). And, God willing, may you never have to go to this much trouble to reclaim it again!

Long live a Free Iraq! And may Iraq serve as the model to the Middle Eastern people that we know it can be. :)

Saddam will become known as the PolPot of Mesopotamia nothing new, just another Baath SOCIALIST modeled after the NAZI's with a bit of Stalin thrown in.

The USA Europian left is the cult of the gulag, the mass grave, the re-education camp, and the iron boot

They still pine and whine over the loss of their beloved USSR, that sent 62 Million Inoocents to their death

The the left, Socialist mass murder Saddam and brothers Hussein that used early teen girls for sex toys and live tiger food is their ideal

No doubt McDermit flew to Iraq to get a piece of that action, standing on mass graves to support saddamn and his crimes against humanity.

They hate bush because they are evil, Bush is fighting agaist those that murder the innocent.

And the leftist murderers of 174 Million innocents are angry.

They dont want freedom for Iraq, to them the only evil is America, they hate America

They hate America because it has defeated a few of their beloved holocaust states of mass murder.

And the leftist media is willing to see 50 Million people slide back into slavery, they want it, because they are the same leftist evil.

As Iraq becomes free the left loses ... the Socialist butchers lose, and the America Haters lose.

Its good to see them lose.

But even better to see hope coming to so many, in the end, nobody will care what the evil left thinks.

The left stands on the rooftops, shouting for liberty, peace, freedom, the end of tyrants and all the good things mens hearts desire. But they do nothing. George Bush and his administration, the US military and most of the American people do not shout so much, but they deliver the hope of these things even if it costs them their own blood and treasure or diminishes their standing with other countries. Slogans vs actions. It is not hard to decide which side is morally superior.

I'm sorry, Anonymous #1, but you're mistaken about WHY we liberals and Democrats have problems with George W. Bush and with our troops BEING in Iraq. We, too, are glad to see the end of Saddam's regime and the beginnings of new democracy, new HOPE, in Iraq. The problems we have are with the reasons, not the results. We were told that it was KNOWN that Saddam had weapons he turned out not to have. That was the main and primary reason we were given, not that we were going to liberate the Iraqi people from his yoke of fear. Had Bush just told us his intention was to remove Saddam from power simply BECAUSE he was harming his entire country, at least it would've had truth behind it. As things are, nearly half the people of OUR country feel he betrayed and lied to us, merely to have an excuse to do what he already intended to do no matter what.

I know I'm not alone in hoping that by the THIRD anniversary of our invasion, Iraq will be well on the way to rebuilding itself with no more fear that someone will come along and destroy what has been built. ALL Americans share that wish and hope for ALL Iraqis.

If you believe nothing else about us, please believe that.

I've really grown sick of the ranting on about WMD, WMD, THERE ARE NO WMD! BUSH LIED TO US!

B.S.

Bush said long before we went into Iraq that we would need to transform the Middle Eastern countries into "Democracies" using the German and Japan WWII results as examples of what he thought would be the best way to "change" the situation (attack terrorism at its roots). When democracies flourish, its people's flourish. When people are given the opportunity to excel, exceed, and acquire a stake in society, they will be much less likely to be willing participants in Osama's murdering ways.

Our men and women were sent to Afganistan and Iraq to make this idea a reality. In this regard, they are fighting for us - not you. We here in America appreciate immensely the words that you have written. It is not easy to send your wives, sons, brothers, and daughters off to some country in the Middle East to risk dying for something that may not be easily recognized as worth dying for. Your freedom (and you and your countrymen's enthusiam for and thankfulness of our help) is an added blessing in this endeavor.

I've never been to your site before. I was introduced to you by a link from LGF.

It is for people like you that our kids helped to create the possibility of a future for Iraq. That's not boastful....forget the political reasons.....it's truth.

The more friends we have the better it will be for all of us.

It would be wrong for us, and by us I mean the world community to continue to sit by and watch time pass without so much as trying to help.

People around the world call us imperial. We're not imperial........we're realists. If there's more fun people at the party, the party is more fun.

Continue your courage...it is well placed. Continue your hope...it is well founded. Continue your struggle...it is well worth it. We'll be here if you need us.

Despite all that has happened. Despite all the hurt, the pain, blood, sweat and tears. These two years have given us hope we never had. That is what I had hoped when I wrote about this last year [Excerpt]:

The deal for Iraqis, then, is that they have a chance -- only a chance -- to become a democracy, in exchange for us using their country as a shooting gallery?

Yes.

Why would the Iraqis accept this?

I think they would only accept this if they are determined not to have any more Saddams...

Anonymous, you use the word "close-minded" far too liberally and without substantiation. My three points were:
America is more of a republic than a democracy.
Iraq is not the worst place in the world to live.
Things in Iraq are far from settled, and there is much work left to be done.

How that makes me close-minded is beyond me. I think what people really need to be careful of is becoming as ignorant as you.

Trebissky: "We were told that it was KNOWN that Saddam had weapons he turned out not to have."

Uh... the entire WORLD thought Saddam had those weapons. It wasn't JUST BUSH who said that. There were 17 UN resolutions UNANAMOUSLY PASSED concerning those weapons, if you'll recall. NO ONE in the entire UN Security Council doubted for one minute that Saddam had those WMDs, and to claim that "Bush lied" is hogwash. Why is Bush the only one in the entire world who "lied" about something everyone knew???

Further, I recall Bush giving FIVE reasons for going into Iraq, not just that one. The WMD one was the one the NEWS MEDIA pushed. "If it bleeds, it leads." Three of the other four reasons didn't "bleed". The one other "reason" that DID bleed was the Iraqi people.

Further, I can recall going into discussion forums at the start of the war and arguing with liberals who claimed that Bush was "unfocused" because he listed five reasons for going to war. I even had a few moments of prescience when I suggested to them that they wanted Bush to "focus" on one reason so they could call him a liar if that fell through for some reason. Well, this was echoed in the news media, and since Bush didn't "focus" on one main issue, the news media did it FOR him! Now the big claim is that Bush LIED????

Further: When Lebanon is free, I pray to God that they secure Bekaa Valley before the Syrians can move the WMD's from Iraq that were hidden there!!! I want one last, HUGE laugh at the liberal nonsense!

Bush embarked upon a bold experiment when he set out to topple Hussein. It may end in freedom for Iraq and other ME countries and/or it may destroy the United States, by bankruptcy if not by terror. Time will tell. Now, Hussein's regime is gone, and the contest is between anarchist/racist/terror masters who despise and wish to kill everyone they define as an "infidel" and between a less-than-perfect democratic path toward peace and prosperity. That there is ANY debate between the two choices is mind-boggling, whatever anyone thinks of Bush's motives and however manipulative they may have been. One thing is clear, however: when individual Iraqis risked death & mayhem to proudly vote, when this was shown throughout the world on television and the web, there was a powerful shift against terror masters. This American does not like Bush for many reasons. But whether Hussein had WMD or not is water under the bridge. The choice now is hope and relative freedom or Taliban-like despair and death. People need to recall the use the Taliban put to their soccer stadium to put this into perspective.

---------------------
If the entire Un Security Council also all believed Saddam did, in fact have those weapons, they still did not use them as a reason to invade before their inspectors had even a chance to go and find them. Bush did. He ignored the UN and went ahead, with or without the UN's permission or sanction. THAT is the real problem behind the non-existent WMD's. Not that the weren't there after all, but the fact that their supposed existence was used as an excuse, without waiting for proof positive that they were indeed there.

As for the results, I said before and will say again that most of us, liberals and conservatives, agree that things are better for the Iraqis with Saddam gone, and will hopefully only improve for them and the rest of the Middle East.

Mamaspajamas: Further, I recall Bush giving FIVE reasons for going into Iraq, not just that one.

Maybe you have a point, TO a point. It remains a FACT that people up to and including the Secretary of State were showing slides, satellite pictures, and other documents supposedly proving beyond any doubt that this was here, that was there, and they had something else concealed here, nearly every day. Those were the examples given to not wait for inspectors, and they were false reasons.

If there were four others, why didn't the President INSIST on getting them mentioned as well?

But to be honest, I'm getting tired of debating this, myself. The fact now is, we have gone in, Saddam is gone, and Iraq now has a chance to start its own new destiny and history. Will it be as great as Mesopotamia's or Babylon's? Who knows. But it WILL be better than what was.

Hi

That's one of the most beautiful texts I've ever read and it helped me so much. I never really knew if the war was worth it since I'm living here calmly in Switzerland only hearing about it on TV. I never joined the like 90% of the swiss people who are Bush-haters and protesters against the war. But still I had huge doubts. Reading your thoughts makes me so happy for you and I hope the majority of Iraqis can think like you.

Look, I am not going to argue the war anymore. It was clearly a major mistake that the US did and we are paying dearly for it. Not only has 1500+ people died but our economy is in ruins.

However, I think you (the folks who think this Iraqi letter is so beautiful) are giving him false hope. America could give a shit if he lived or died or if that Country was taken over by a mad man or not. The only thing we care about is filling up our 25 gallon tanks in our 12MPG SUVs. If you do not believe me then tell me what we did to save Ruwanda, Cambodia, or better yet, what are we doing to stop the slave labor/prison labor in China? Nothing. WHat are we doing to stop the hundreds of thousands dying in Africa? Nothing.

Better even yet, what did we do to stop Hussein when he gassed his people in the late 80s. In the early 80s, Rumsfeld went over there to personally kiss Saddam's ass while he was killing his people in droves. We kissed his ass then because Saddam fought a "proxy" war for us against Iran. As soon as Saddam invaded Kuwait and put the oil in jeapordy, we started hating him.

Let me ask you this. If Saddam did not invade Kuwait, kept the oil flowing at a low price and gassed the shit out of 50% of his Country do you think we would be there fighting a war? Of course we wouldn't. The average American can't find Iraq on a map.

Kevin, Kevin, Kevin... where to start?

This is as good a place as any:

"The average American can't find Iraq on a map."

Can the average Iraqi find, say, Pennsylvania on a map? I doubt it.

Besides... the Average American coudln't find Rhode Island on a map, and think we need a passport to go to New Mexico! This is an indictment of the liberal control of US schools, not anything that indicates any level of intelligence.

You also said,"Let me ask you this. If Saddam did not invade Kuwait, kept the oil flowing at a low price and gassed the shit out of 50% of his Country do you think we would be there fighting a war? Of course we wouldn't."

But Saddam DID invade Kuwait AND Iran, and thus proved himself to be a danger to his neighbors, one of the FIVE reasons Bush gave for going in there.

Just a quick point here. I don't own a tv. I have to sit down at the computer and read the President's speeches from the whitehouse.gov site. I saw myself were he mentioned the five reasons over and over and over and over and over.

The mainstream media reports I read did NOT mention them.

The lapse is on the part of the news media, not Mr. Bush.

Frankly, I'm more than tired of debating the "why's" of it myself. But Husayn, don't ever think the hope you're feeling is false. You're seeing what's going on for yourself. If you're starting to see better things coming, for yourself and all Iraqis, then by all means hold onto that hope and make it happen.

No, not very much of this side of things makes it onto the evening news. Some does, but not much. It's good to hear something other than how many were killed today by how many roadside bombs or whatever.

Keep that hope alive, and help spread it around. It IS a good thing.

I want to say that this is my first visit to your blog but it certainly won't be my last. I found your words very enlightening and hope they are read by many.
As are most of your posters I have always known that the Iraqi people are not all terrorists or Saddam wannabes.
Perhaps that is why so many on the liberal left in America and the world oppose the war as not worth fighting because that is how they perceive all Middle Eastern people including the Israelis.
It seems that the only people in the Middle East worthy of the left's affection are the Palestinians and that is just a convenient cover for their long history of anti Semitism.
I pray for you and your people and I pray for our men and women that are in your country helping you to a better future and I pray that soon the world will wake up to the fact that no matter what your nationality or what your name is, be it Joseph Stalin, Adolph Hitler, Mao Tse Tung, Kim Jong Il, John Kerry or Saddam Hussein, that your time is done and FREEDOM is on the march!

Whigfarmer, I'm not sure what makes you think the left has a history of anti-semitism. As I seem to recall, it is the conservatives that have a habit of coming up with phrases like, "Jew-deal."

And your little list at the bottom confused me. What does it mean? Why are the first three men you mentioned dead while the other three living? Did this have a point or was this just more of your rambling?
